Google privacy policy change may use Gmail and Google Photos data for targeted ads

Now Google says it might use your Gmail and Google Photos data to target ads

Google updated its privacy policy so that when users open Gmail, Drive and Google Photos data to services that support personalized ads, that content can be used for ad personalization. The exception added on October 16 covers users who share data with search tools such as AI Mode through Personal Intelligence. Advertisers do not get the personal data, and Google says it will not target ads based on sensitive categories such as race, religion or health.

Why it matters: After the privacy policy change, email, photo and cloud drive data users open for personalized AI search may also feed targeted ads.
