Reddit moves toward a login-first experience to counter AI search traffic decline
Reddit 宣布转向以登录为主的体验,以应对 AI 搜索带来的流量下滑
Reddit said in its Q3 earnings that it is shifting to a login-first experience to block AI scraping, push licensing deals with model providers and lift ad monetization. Global daily active users were 130.3 million, flat quarter over quarter, and US daily actives fell from 53.2 million in Q2 to 50.7 million. Search referral traffic dropped by more than 1 million visits a week on average in October, while revenue still rose 53% year over year to $895 million.
Why it matters: Reddit is tightening open access to protect its data and grow ad revenue as AI search sends fewer visitors its way.
