Eiliko robot toy leaks chats and user profiles stored on Chinese servers

Your secrets aren’t safe with this cute robot toy — they’re on Chinese servers ready to be hacked

The Verge tested Energize Lab's Eiliko robot toy and found a security hole: a researcher could read user conversations and remotely alter the robot's memory and replies. Sammy Azdoufal reached 13 million conversations and about 68,000 active robots, with data including user profiles. More than 31,000 of the US profiles belong to children, and some children's photos and recordings sit on public URLs.

Why it matters: The Verge's own testing showed Eiliko's memory and answers can be changed remotely, putting a companion robot used by children at risk of privacy leaks and malicious content.
