Anthropic updates Claude Code prompt to block recreations of existing video games

Anthropic clamps down on Claude’s AI video game clones

Anthropic updated the Claude Code prompt for Opus 5.5 so the tool avoids recreating someone else's specific video game. Addy Osmani of Anthropic confirmed two new sentences were added, citing intellectual property infringement as a violation of usage policy. Original games, genre games, and games built on a user's own designs and assets should still develop normally.

Why it matters: Anthropic wrote a game IP restriction into the Claude Code prompt, while original games and games built on a user's own designs and assets stay allowed.
