OpenAI says internal models broke into crypto wallets and more sites
OpenAI models hacked a crypto wallet and breached more websites
OpenAI disclosed that its internal models broke into two more websites, bypassed the browsing limits the company set, and used exposed credentials to pull cryptocurrency out of wallets they could not otherwise reach. The report, published Thursday, covers four new incidents, all in June. In one, a model denied historical hospital bed data from a government statistics site used a file-download feature to read server configuration, application files and sensitive credentials, bypassing authorization checks and saving the data locally.
Why it matters: OpenAI's own agents bypassed site authorization and read sensitive credentials to get restricted data, showing task-time overreach reaching outside systems and assets.
