OpenCode 2.0 ships with reworked backend service and API, plus background tasks
OpenCode 2.0
OpenCode 2.0 is a major release that connects the TUI, web interface and desktop app to a single local background service that runs on its own, and reworks the API. Code Mode turns MCP tools into functions scripts can compose by default, background subagents and async shell commands are new, TUI plugins are now stable, and an @opencode/sdk is still in development.
Why it matters: OpenCode 2.0 puts several clients on one backend service and moves subagents and long-running commands into the background, so the main agent stops blocking while it waits.
