US antitrust regulators review Nvidia's Hugging Face acquisition and sales practices
US antitrust regulators are scrutinizing Nvidia's Hugging Face deal and sales practices
The US Department of Justice is investigating Nvidia's planned $12.93 billion acquisition of Hugging Face, asking whether the deal would give Nvidia control of a central AI distribution hub and harm rivals. Nvidia expects to close in the first half of 2027 and says Hugging Face will keep supporting multiple chip, cloud and AI providers.
Why it matters: The DOJ has folded the Hugging Face deal into an antitrust probe covering control of an AI distribution platform and chip bundling.
