Schwartz reviews using Claude and BootLoops for cross-disciplinary science

Claude-Shaped Science

Matthew Schwartz built BootLoops, an open-source scientific computing toolkit, with Claude, and in three months ran research across 18 fields with 19 collaborators, producing 36 manuscripts. He had Claude find quantitative problems suited to its abilities, then let domain experts steer the research direction. He stresses that calculations, conclusions and scientific value still need human checking.

Why it matters: Schwartz uses BootLoops to find science problems suited to Claude, then has domain experts pick the direction, pushing technical computation toward questions with scientific value.
