Coding agents are fine with ephemeral sandboxes since state lives in git. But handling email, expenses, and schedules means state can't be exported; destroy the environment and the context is gone. So all three gave agents a dedicated always-on cloud machine.

The sharpest move here is separating "cloud" from "custody." A local always-on box can do the same thing. The real difference is who maintains it and where credentials live. Vendors take custody, and in return they get data access, lock-in, and recurring revenue—Muse charges $20 and $100 per month. Users skip maintenance, but switching means rebuilding the entire environment; exporting chat logs won't help.
