AI spend per employee slumped at top firms in August — summer doldrums or a warning sign?
Ramp tracked AI spending across 70,000 companies: paid AI adoption hit 56% in August, up just 0.4% month-over-month. Per-employee spend also fell, partly because token and model costs dropped, but usage growth didn't keep pace. Ramp saw a similar slowdown last year. The post doesn't settle whether this is a seasonal summer dip or a sign that enterprise AI adoption is lagging behind hyperscaler expectations.
