Neel Gupta and co-authors analyzed over 500,000 anonymized ChatGPT conversations and found more than one-third involve fiction generation—original stories, roleplay, fanfiction, and erotica. Power users dominate this activity; some repeatedly request and revise the same narratives, which the authors call 'infinite story demanders.' Users gravitate toward fanfiction, erotica, generic forms, immediacy, and niche story-element combos.
