Anthropic is selling model choreography here, not a new capability jump. The setup is explicit: Opus acts as the advisor, while Sonnet or Haiku acts as the executor. The promise is near-Opus agent quality at a “fraction” of the cost. That is the right architecture for expensive frontier models: reserve them for planning, critique, and correction; let cheaper models burn tokens on execution.

I buy the pattern, not the claim strength. The post gives no pricing, benchmark scores, latency, advisor-call rate, or rollout date. Without those numbers, “near Opus-level” is an engineering hypothesis, not a product fact. OpenAI-style routing and LangGraph planner-executor patterns have been common for months. Anthropic’s edge is packaging this into Claude Platform. The catch is simple: if developers still tune thresholds, token budgets, and rollback logic themselves, this is a recipe, not a platform feature.
