OpenAI is not selling advice here; it is putting ChatGPT inside the user’s cash-flow ledger. The preview is for U.S. Pro users, connects through Plaid, covers more than 12,000 financial institutions, and stores Financial memories like mortgages, car goals, and family loans. That is a much heavier surface than users pasting a bank statement into a chat.

The part I distrust is the boundary language. OpenAI says ChatGPT is not a replacement for professional financial advice, but the product page shows five-year home-buying plans, investment risk checks, subscription review, and spending analysis. After Mint died, Intuit, Rocket Money, and bank apps all chased the aggregation layer. ChatGPT has the interface and reasoning advantage; liability is the ugly part.
