Anthropic is taking the practical route here: 20-plus MCP connectors and 12 legal plugins, with Claude sitting inside Word and Outlook for drafting, revisions, and clause comparison. That is smarter than shipping another generic “legal assistant,” because lawyers do not live in chat boxes. They live in redlines, email threads, document systems, and review history.

I don’t buy the safety story until the boring controls show up. In legal work, the hard problems are permission boundaries, source citation, conflict checks, audit logs, and malpractice exposure. The post gives connector counts and Microsoft Office placement, but pricing, liability allocation, and client-data isolation are not given. Harvey already has the law-firm relationship wedge; Claude cannot win this market by making the MCP menu longer.
